An
Experience Like No Other
The Allegro Orchestra Camp offers first-rate, professional
orchestra training for all levels of students from throughout
Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Students have the opportunity
to enjoy learning in a positive, fun and exciting environment
through exposure to all elements of orchestra playing.
The Allegro Orchestra Camp brings together top Twin Cities
musicians and music students who dream of sharing the stage.
Students will have the chance to interact with professional
musicians like never before! Through workshops and demonstrations,
camp students will learn from the best musicians in the state.
See professional staff.
Advanced students will also participate in master classes.
A unique collaboration with Allegro Con Brio, the professional
orchestra-in-residence of the camp, helps make it all possible.
During the camp, students will watch a special performance
of the professional orchestra. The camp's advanced students
will even perform side-by-side with Allegro Con Brio in June.
It is an experience like no other. Literally playing the same
music as their professional counterparts, the students have
the chance to fulfill their dream of sharing the stage. Students
will also watch the musicians rehearse for the concert festival
in June; giving them a rare "behind the scenes"
view of what it's like to be a professional musician. No tuxes,
just jeans.
Many of the musicians from the professional Allegro Con Brio
orchestra also serve as the summer camp's coaches and master
class presenters.
You certainly don't have to be a child prodigy to reap the
benefits of music! According to the VH1 Foundation, research
has shown that musical study develops critical thinking and
self discipline skills and improves a child's early cognitive
development, basic math and reading abilities, self-esteem,
SAT scores, ability to work in teams and more. Researchers
have also found that children involved with music education
are more likely to graduate from high school, attend college,
and are less likely to be involved with gangs and substance
abuse.

Quotes
from William Stuber, ALLEGRO Founder and Conductor
"Providing committed orchestra students with the opportunity
to not only learn from the best, but actually play right alongside
them is very exciting for me. For those looking to study music
at the college level, a side-by-side experience can give them
the confidence and inspiration to become a professional orchestra
musician."
"It's thrilling to provide role models for students.
We believe the role of the professional coaches and instructors
is to serve as teachers, mentors and advocates. That carries
on throughout the program. The beginning students model the
top camp students who model the professionals. Everyone in
the continuum has someone they can look up to."
